CPT. CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS
Cydney McGhee
Captain Cydney McGhee began her career with the City of Concord in 2005, where she served the department as an officer and eventually as a field training officer. She was reassigned to the Criminal Investigations Division in 2012, where she served as a detective and investigated various crimes including homicide, robbery, and aggravated assaults. In 2013 Captain McGhee was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to the Patrol Bureau.
Captain McGhee then served the Department in the Special Operations Division and supervised the Vice & Narcotics Unit and ABC enforcement as well as Patrol District Captain. Captain McGhee is a founding member of the Concord Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit which participates in special events such as the City of Concord Christmas Parade, the City of Concord Tree Lighting Ceremony, Special Olympics and Law Day.
Captain McGhee holds a Master’s Degree in Business and an Undergraduate Degree in Criminal Justice from Pfeiffer University. She also possess an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission. She takes pride in passing on her experiences as an instructor of Basic Law Enforcement Training curriculum at various community colleges. Captain McGhee has completed SMIP, a three week leadership course at Boston University. She is also a graduated of FBI National Academy class 289, a ten week leadership course held at the FBI training facility in Quantico, VA.
