National Night Out, sponsored by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF TOWN WATCH, is a national neighborhood crime and drug prevention event that occurs annually on the first Tuesday in August. It is celebrated in numerous cities, towns and villages in the United States. Over the past 35years, National Night Out has grown to over 38.5 million people in over 16,000 communities from all 50 states, US territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
In addition to increasing awareness of crime, NNO strengthens neighborhood bonds and community police partnerships, while sending a message to criminals that neighborhoods are taking a stand against crime! Bonded neighborhoods deter crime by sending the message that you are close to your neighbors and everyone is aware of what is happening in your neighborhood, and is watching out for each other.
During the school year School Resource Officers are responsible for safety and crime prevention in schools located in the City of Concord. Along with safety they are continually reaching out to the youth by teaching D.A.R.E and being involved with programs at their assigned schools.

Neighborhood Watch
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that integrates the members of a community to actively to engage with one another to discuss and report criminal activity that is affecting the quality of life within their neighborhood to law enforcement. This collaboration allows each group to discuss, plan and address the concerns of the community to reduce crime, fear and improve the quality of life within the community.

Shell Fuel For Success
The Concord Police Department is proud to work with the Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County as they partner with the Shell Fuel for Success program and multiple law enforcement agencies throughout the United States working together with young students.
The program is much more than visits to race tracks. A wide variety of activities are constantly being implemented to reach out to local students, including design, coloring and Eco-essay contests.
In the spring and fall at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, before each Monster Cup Series race, students from Charlotte and Concord visit the track, enjoy lunch, and get a backstage tour of the garage and the pits Penske Racing / Shell NASCAR driver Joey Logano.
