Alvarys Santana is a Bronx, New York native who relocated to Concord, North Carolina, drawn by the community’s strong schools and small-town charm. She pursued higher education with a focus on leadership, governance, and social impact, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Pre Law from Hunter College and a Master of Business Administration from Fayetteville State University. Alvarys has also completed multiple professional and executive education certifications from nationally recognized institutions, including Parsons School of Design, Yale University, and Dartmouth College, among others, with coursework centered on leadership, ethics and decision-making.
Professionally, Alvarys is an accomplished business and program management leader with experience spanning corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors. She is a small business owner and founder of an organization that supports government agencies through social sciences research, strategic analysis, and program development. Her work focuses on data-informed decision-making, equity-driven policy outcomes, and operational effectiveness. In parallel, Alvarys has held senior leadership roles within large-scale organizations, where she has led complex initiatives, managed multi-million-dollar budgets, and delivered measurable performance improvements.
Alvarys is deeply committed to civic engagement and community service. She is actively involved with the Cabarrus County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, where she serves as Chair of the program Aspire as part of the monitoring committee , supporting prevention and early-intervention strategies for youth. She also serves on the board of La Coalición, one of North Carolina’s oldest Hispanic-serving organizations, advancing advocacy, cultural representation, and community empowerment across the region.
With a strong passion for supporting vulnerable populations, Alvarys is particularly focused on housing stability and access. She serves on the advocacy committee for We Build Concord. Additionally, she serves on the board of Freedom Fighting Missionaries, an organization that provides housing and supportive services to returning citizens and students experiencing housing insecurity under the McKinney-Vento Act.
In addition to her professional and civic work, Alvarys is a children’s book author whose writing centers on disability awareness helping young readers better understand differences through empathy-driven storytelling.
One of fourteen siblings, Alvarys places a high value on family. She enjoys spending time with her extended family and traveling with her husband and children to explore different countries, cultures, and cuisines, experiences that continue to shape her global perspective and commitment to all communities.
