Matt Willet

 

Matthew Willet has served with the Concord Police Department since 2007. He spent several years as a patrol officer in both the Adam and Charlie Districts. During his time in Charlie District, he became one of the department’s Field Training Officers. In March 2013, Willet was promoted to Master Police Officer. Two years later, in March 2015, he was selected to serve as one of the department’s K-9 Handlers. Partnered with K-9 Bendix in Adam District, Willet played a key role in apprehending suspects, locating missing persons, and seizing narcotics valued in the millions, assisting both the city and other agencies.

In April 2021, Willet was promoted to Sergeant and assigned as a patrol supervisor in David District. The following year, in May 2022, he transferred to the Special Operations Division as the Street Crimes Sergeant. In this capacity, he also served as an on-call supervisor for the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), overseeing complex investigations. Additionally, Willet managed responses to serious and fatal crashes, oversaw the department’s involvement with the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program, and supervised the Crossing Guard and Parks and Recreation units.

Willet holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is a graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Program. He has also served on the department’s Commendations Committee and Use of Force Committee. willetmb@concordnc.gov
