Steven Zollars

Steven Zollars has been with the Concord Police Department since 2008. Zollars began his career as a patrol officer, working for nine years primarily as a field training officer. In 2013, he completed Drug Recognition Expert training. He was promoted to Master Police Officer the same year. In 2017, Zollars worked in the traffic safety unit, investigating fatal and severe injury traffic collisions while also taking part in strategies to mitigate these types of incidents. Zollars helped develop the police department’s DWI task force.

In 2019, Zollars received the Officer of the Year award. In 2020, Zollars was promoted to Sergeant, and in 2021, he was assigned to the recruiting unit, where he helped streamline many processes that resulted in hiring more than 70 officers within two years. Zollars holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from East Carolina University and is completing his Ph.D.
