On Monday, October 30, the City of Concord will begin its annual loose leaf collection season. Loose leaf season will run from October 30, 2023, through January 25, 2024. During this time, residents may place un-bagged leaves at the curb for collection during their assigned week. A “second chance” collection will also be available for a fee at the end of the season.

The City’s Solid Waste Services crews work Monday-Thursday, except for city-observed holidays. There is no loose leaf collection on Thanksgiving Day (November 23), the week of Christmas (December 25-29), New Year’s Day (January 1), or Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday (January 15).

Residents are reminded:

  • Place loose leaves at the curb no later than 6 a.m. on the first day of their assigned collection week.
  • Leaves must be free of tree and shrub limbs and other foreign objects.
  • Keep leaves away from storm drains, mailboxes, and parked cars.

Leaves bagged in biodegradable paper bags or placed in labeled personal yard waste containers are also collected weekly on residents’ assigned collection day.

Residents can view, download, and print a copy of the 2023-2024 Loose Leaf Collection Schedule on the city’s website at concordnc.gov/looseleaves. There is also a tracker on the website to check the progress of city crews in their neighborhoods.

Finally, the city will again offer a Second Chance Program for anyone who misses their last loose leaf collection and would rather pay a fee than bag their leaves. For a fee of $75, the city will schedule a special last chance loose leaf collection during the weeks of January 29-February 1 and February 5-8.
