Each year, the City of Concord dedicates funding for local, non-profit organizations to support programs and activities that contribute to the city’s cultural, social, and economic vitality. Funding through both city grants and the city’s allocation of federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) is available to external, non-governmental organizations only. Interested organizations must apply online at concordnc.gov/external-agency. Applications are due March 11, 2024.
The City Council will hold a budget hearing in April to hear from organizations that applied for external agency funds. During the hearing, organizations requesting funds should come prepared to discuss how their request serves a municipal public purpose, and how it either supports an existing service or helps fill a void. The hearing will be conducted in Council Chambers at City Hall located at 35 Cabarrus Avenue West. Applicants will receive an email with a notice of the hearing date and time once it is confirmed.
All requests for external agency funding will be evaluated based upon their merit. Applying for funds is not a guarantee for future funding. The City Council reserves all rights to fund fully, partially, or none of the external agency requests. The City may only fund requests that advance a municipal public purpose and/or CDBG eligible use.
Finally, applicants are reminded that in addition to financial reporting, all recipients and sub-recipients of city funding will be required to report agency and/or program outcomes using performance measures. The performance measures will be developed in conjunction with city staff upon any funding approved by City Council.
More information about the application process is available online at concordnc.gov/external-agency. For questions, please call the Planning & Neighborhood Development Department at 704-920-5152.
