Why is everyone moving to Concord? How did Concord get its name? Where does my water come from? Why are city curbside recycling carts black instead of blue? Join us this fall for the Concord 101 program to get the answers to these questions and more! Whether you are a new resident, or born and raised in Concord, we promise you will learn something new and walk away with a deeper love and appreciation for the city we all call home.
Now in its 23rd year, Concord 101 is a free, 14-week program open to residents of the City of Concord aged 18 years and older. Through the program, residents connect with City leaders, explore our history, tour city facilities, and get a firsthand look at what it takes to run one of North Carolina’s largest and fastest growing cities.
Participants will also meet with community partners and learn how we are working together to create a sustainable community with opportunities for all to thrive. We will discuss our joint efforts on economic development and community needs like affordable housing.
We also hope the program inspires participants to take a more active role in our community. Council Members Andy Langford, Betty Stocks, Lori Clay, Jennifer P. Hubbard, and John Sweat, Jr. are Concord 101 alumni.
Registration for Concord 101 is open online through August 4, 2024. Be sure to sign up early as space is limited and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
