The City of Concord is continuously working to enhance services and respond to emerging community needs. Local businesses in Downtown Concord, along with residents and visitors, have been asking City leaders for a public restroom downtown. In response, the City of Concord reached an agreement with Cabarrus County to assume management of an existing county-owned restroom facility. Beginning today, the restroom at Rotary Square will be open year-round, seven days a week, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Downtown Concord is a hub of activity and home to some of the City’s largest annual events. The streetscape project is nearly complete, a new social district opened earlier this fall, and new residents are moving into the recently completed Novi apartment buildings and making downtown their home.
“Downtown Concord is a thriving destination with unique experiences in every season. We appreciate the County working with the City to open a public restroom year-round and provide an essential amenity for our visitors, residents, and businesses,” said Paige Grochoske, Downtown Development Manager.
Conveniently located close to downtown shops and restaurants, the public restroom is located at Rotary Square (111 Union St S) near the intersection of Union Street and Corban Avenue. The facility is owned by Cabarrus County and was previously open during the summer months and special events. Under the new agreement, the City of Concord will maintain the restroom and open it year-round for visitors.
