The City of Concord 2025 Recycling and Bulky Waste Collection Calendar is now available online for residents. The annual calendar notes the blue and green recycling weeks and the City-observed holidays when there will be no collection and instead customers will have a one-day delay the remainder of the collection week. It also shares important information on ways to recycle right to create a cleaner community.
Over the past year, the City of Concord Solid Waste Services Department tracked recycling contamination in neighborhoods across the city. The results showed that the top five contaminants in household recycling carts are plastic bags, Styrofoam, textiles, tanglers like cords and rope, and garbage. These items cannot be recycled and when a truckload contains too much contamination, the truck could be turned away from the recycling center and sent to the landfill. To help keep these items out of recycling carts, the annual calendar includes helpful recycling tips and reminders for residents. Recycling works best when residents unite to recycle right!
Residents are also encouraged to download the free CARTology app to easily look up their collection day, set reminders, search items to learn how to properly dispose of them, and get notifications about collection schedule changes. The app is available on both Apple and Android devices. Residents can also use the CARTology app functions through the City’s website at concordnc.gov/whatsmyday.
