The Concord Fire and Concord Police departments will conduct training exercises at Academy Recreation Center throughout the month of January. This is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to public safety and ensuring first responders are prepared for various emergency scenarios and the conditions they will face during a real emergency.

The training will take place at the Academy Recreation Center located on Academy Avenue NW in Concord.  During the training, the recreation center will be closed to the public. Training is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on January 7-9, 14-16, and 21-23. While the Academy Recreation Center is closed, residents can visit the Hartsell Recreation Center and Logan Multi-Purpose Center.

Residents in the area can expect a large fire and police presence at the recreation center during the training exercise. Motorists traveling through the area and residents are reminded this is a training exercise only.  Motorists are asked to keep traffic flowing and individuals should only call 911 if they are experiencing a life-threating emergency.
