Stormwater runoff plays a significant role in the health of Concord’s creeks and streams, and the City of Concord is asking young artists to help spread that message. Students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to participate in the City’s Stormwater Art Contest by submitting original artwork focused on stormwaterpollution prevention. Entries are due February 15, 2026.

Many people are not aware that stormwater is untreated and empties directly into local rivers and streams. When it rains, the water that flows over the streets can pick up pollutants like litter, yard and pet waste, oil and vehicle fluids, sediment, and more. Those pollutants end up in the stormwater system and ultimately drain into local creeks and streams.

Through this contest, the City hopes to increase awareness about stormwater pollution and inspire residents to take simple actions that help protect the environment. Student artwork should communicate a clear message related to stormwater pollution prevention and reflect the theme “Only Rain Down the Drain.”

Student artwork will be reviewed by a panel of judges and awards will be given out to winners in elementary, middle, and high school. One grand prize winner may be selected to have their artwork displayed at a storm drain within the City of Concord. All eligible artwork submitted for the contest will be displayed at ClearWater Arts Center and Studios in Concord. Winners will be notified by World Water Day on March 22, 2026.
