Pat Merritt Jr.
Patrick Merritt has been employed with the Concord Police Department since February 2004. Patrick served as a patrol officer, an investigator in the Special Investigation Unit, and a
detective in the Criminal Investigation Division. In August 2020, Patrick was promoted to Sergeant and was a supervisor for patrol, the Vice & Narcotics Unit, and the Criminal Investigation Division.
Patrick is also a team leader for the S.W.A.T team and the Drone Unit and is the department’s lead A.B.L.E. Instructor. Patrick earned an associate degree in criminal justice and an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Justice Training and Standards Commission.
In 2014, Patrick was awarded the Officer of the Year, and in 2018, awarded the “Heart Behind the Badge” by the mothers of Murder Offspring Committee.
