What is a Social District?

Social district is an area where people can walk with open, to-go containers of alcoholic beverages sold by a participating business in a contiguous area. A social district may include both indoor and outdoor areas of businesses within the defined district during the days and hours established for the social district.

How does the Downtown Concord Social District work?

  • Social District Hours: Monday-Sunday from 11 am to 10 pm
  • You cannot "bring your own" alcoholic beverages into the Social District.
  • Alcoholic beverages may be purchased from participating restaurants and bars. Look for the “Drinks Sold Here” signs at participating businesses.
  • Alcohol consumed in the Social District must be in a designated Social District cup with an official Social District sticker provided by the participating business.
  • Enjoy your beverage in the designated cup on the sidewalks within the Social District boundary or take it with you while you shop at participating retail businesses with a “Drinks Welcome” sign.
  • Alcohol purchased from a participating bar or restaurant with a “Drinks Sold Here” sign, may NOT be brought into another participating bar or restaurant.
  • Not all bars or restaurants with an ABC permit are participating businesses. Alcohol purchased from a non-participating business is NOT allowed to be taken outside their defined sidewalk dining area.
  • Alcoholic beverages purchased in the Social District must be consumed or disposed of before leaving the Social District.
