Lead and Copper Rule Revisions
The Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) amend the Lead and Copper Rule. All community and non-transient non-community public water systems are required to comply with the LCRR starting October 16, 2024. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the proposed Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) on November 30, 2023 and published the proposed LCRI in the Federal Registry on December 6, 2023. EPA intends to finalize the LCRI by October 16, 2024.
More information from EPA on the LCRR can be found on EPA’s Review of the National Primary Drinking Water Regulation: Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) webpage.
Service Lines
The service line is the pipe that brings drinking water from the water main into your home. City of Concord Water Resources maintains a service line from the water main to the meter and then the customer maintains from the water meter to the house. A variety of service line materials exist throughout the City. Homes built before 1987 may have service line materials that will require future replacement.
How is City of Concord Water Resources identifying when and where to replace service lines?
City of Concord Water Resources has found no lead service lines through over 12,000 field investigations. Concord Water has developed a comprehensive inventory showing service line material in our service area using property records and visual inspection of service lines.
