The Engineering Department operates to protect the City of Concord's interest in both new development and the operation and maintenance of existing City infrastructure.
The Engineering Department provides engineering, technical, and contract management assistance to all City departments. It is the Engineering Department's responsibility to schedule, design, prepare specifications, acquire permits, secure rights-of-way, advertise, bid, and manage capital improvement projects as directed by City Internal departments and approved by the City Council and the City Manager.
Other engineering responsibilities include plan review, obtaining and holding applicable permits and encroachment agreements, and observing the construction of new public infrastructure to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
The Engineering Department is comprised of five branches: Administration, Design Services, Survey, Development Services/Permitting, and Construction.
Through our partnerships with Private Consultants and Contractors, the Engineering department has seen the collaboration and hard work in design come to life in such positive ways in the development of our community.
